I Have An Idea Poster- with text2.jpgOne Book/One Town Family Literacy Event

Old Saybrook’s smallest residents can have the biggest voices!

The Old Saybrook Early Childhood Council invites you to our first One Book/One Town Family Literacy Event on Saturday, November 18, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on the town green.

This is an opportunity for our community to start a conversation about how change occurs within our community as well as how to value ideas.

Students and teachers will read “What do you do with an Idea” by Kobi Yamada during the week of November 13-17, 2017.  Together they will create their own ideas and discuss how change can occur within our own community.

Bulletin boards in schools and town buildings will be set up to collect ideas to change our community on large pieces of paper.  Individual ideas will be displayed in windows of shops on Main Street as well as a walking story of the pages of the book.  If you see a message board around town, please share your idea!

On November 18th, students, families and community members are invited to come to the town green to celebrate their ideas through an idea celebration.  Students will even have the opportunity to pitch their ideas to Town officials!  There will be games, activities and prizes.

If you are a local business or a community member interested in becoming involved in this event, please contact ECC Coordinator, Jodi Kelly through Old Saybrook Youth and Family Services.  860-510-5051.  Jodi.Kelly@oldsaybrookct.gov.
